Roles

Project Management:

From inception, surveying, planning, design and construction to delivery, ESD handles all programming aspects of each project’s lifespan.

Design:

Addressing the client’s precise requirements, ESD adds value through the expertise of our in-house design team. Increasing digitalisation of our design processes is introducing sector-leading technologies and capabilities which lead to time-saving and efficiencies on-site.

Construction:

Delivering high quality construction projects on time, on budget, to the required quality using leading edge new technologies such as MIEX (Magnetic Ionic Exchangers for treating source waters) and Nereda, a highly efficient biological process for treating wastewater.

SHE (Safety, Health & Environment):

Care for the safety of our people and the environment is central to our approach. We believe that all incidents are preventable and that nothing is so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely. ESD has created an environment where everybody – colleagues, client, supply chain partners, members of the public and our precious ecosystems – is kept safe and can flourish.

Commercial:

ESD’s frontline design and construction activities are supported by a team of experienced professionals, including quantity surveyors, planners and buyers, whose expertise enables the efficient and successful delivery of our projects on the ground.

Business Support:

Success in achieving our mission - to harness and develop the expertise of our people in successfully delivering Scottish Water’s vital capital programme - is a ‘given’ in ESD and is promoted by dedicated finance, IT, document control and administration colleagues.
