ESD is a Scottish Water design & build partner engaged in the construction of new and upgrade of existing fresh and wastewater treatment facilities.

Our vision is to support a flourishing Scotland through being trusted to care for the water on which the country depends, both today and for generations to come. Active throughout Scotland, ESD is a joint venture business focused exclusively on the design and delivery of high quality fresh and wastewater projects for Scottish Water.

We share Scottish Water’s determination to maintain and improve Scotland’s fresh water and wastewater facilities which are critical to the well being of our communities and ecosystems. Careful stewardship of water increases the quality, capacity and sustainability of supplies in a country renowned for its abundance of this precious natural resource.

Our three parent companies have enjoyed long standing relationships with each other which have successfully delivered over £2 billion worth of programmes and projects under various joint venture and alliance arrangements. They are fully committed to the water sector in Scotland. ESD combines the leadership, expertise, energy and passion of our parent companies in our determination to design, manage and deliver a successful programme of works for Scottish Water.

Founded in 2015 as a joint venture between Binnies, Galliford Try and MWH Treatment, our strength lies in the planning, technological and engineering expertise of our people. We currently have around 350 highly skilled professionals in the team.

Along with our first contract with Scottish Water (SR15), we are in delivering a second programme of work (SR21), valued at £700 million over the next six years.

By the end of this decade, ESD will have delivered more than £1.2 billion worth of world class projects. ESD is proud to be an Alliance Partner with Scottish Water.
